Techniques
How They Painted
He painted outdoors to capture natural light, shade, and color. His works feature asymmetrical compositions suggesting photographic influence. In his late etchings, he embraced simplifications of shape, atmospheric effects, and flattened space inspired by Japanese art and Whistler.
