Biography

Oscar Galgiani (1903–1994) was an American painter and muralist. Born in Stockton, California on March 18, 1903, of pioneer stock, his grandfather settled in Stockton in the 1850s. As a teenager, he took painting lessons from his aunt, Anita Galgiani Miller. He later enrolled at the CSFA, where he was a pupil of notable artists.

Galgiani's works capture California's history and landscape, including murals for the San Joaquin County Courthouse and portraits of notable figures such as Governor Edmund G. 'Pat' Brown and Stockton's founder, Captain Charles Weber.
