Biography

James Scott (1889–1967) was an American painter known for his Realist landscape paintings. Born on September 3, 1889, in Racine, Wisconsin, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before moving to Milton, New York, on the Hudson River in 1913. He became involved in an art colony founded by Anders Anderson and was also a member of the Elverhoj art colony on the Hudson.

Scott's work includes oil paintings such as 'Catskill Mountains, New York' (1935), which features his artist signature. His techniques included painting, etching, jewelry-making, and graphic design.
