Biography

James McCracken (1875–1967) was an American painter and illustrator. Born in Pundicherry, Scotland in 1875, he emigrated to the United States as a young man and settled in Oak Park, Illinois. He studied with Grant Wood at his Anamosa art colony and became a successful artist and illustrator. McCracken's work includes floral, landscape, and tropical bird paintings, as well as illustrations.

His artwork has been exhibited in New York and Miami, and he signed many of his pieces with an artist signature.
