Biography

Henry Theodore Tuckerman (1813–1871) was an American painter, essayist, poet, editor, and art critic. Born on April 20, 1813, in Boston, Massachusetts, he came from a family of notable artists and writers. Due to ill-health, he abandoned his collegiate education and sought restoration through European travel.

His experiences abroad inspired 'The Italian Sketch Book' (1835). Tuckerman's work as an artist is not well-documented, but it is known that he was involved in various artistic endeavors. The style of his art is unknown.
