Biography
Cristos Gianakos (born 1934) was an American artist known for his large-scale ramp sculptures and installations. He lives and works in New York, where he has been teaching at the School of Visual Arts since 1963. Gianakos' work is characterized by its scale and use of ramps, which have become a distinctive element of his art signature.
Throughout his career, he has received several grants and fellowships, including from the National Education Association and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
