Carl Nelson Gorman (1907–1998) was an American painter, illustrator, and professor. He served as a code talker with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. Gorman held a faculty position at the University of California, Davis, from 1950 until 1973. As an artist, he combined traditional Navajo imagery with Western art styles, showcasing his unique perspective and artistic voice through his work.
His artwork often featured his signature style, which blended raw power and imagery from his Navajo heritage with refined techniques.
