Biography

Lewis P. Clover (1819–1896) was an American painter born on February 20, 1819, in New York City. His father was a publisher of prints and proprietor of a frame and artist's supply shop in lower Manhattan. Clover was apprenticed to Asher Brown Durand for three years, which likely influenced his choice of profession.

He is known to have created artworks, including 'Study of a Man' (1838), a graphite drawing with an artist signature.
