Biography

Floyd D. Hopper (1909–1984) was an American painter who spent six decades creating artwork. Born in Martin County, Indiana, he studied at the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis from 1929 to 1933 under notable artists such as William Forsyth and Clifton Wheeler. Hopper's work included watercolor paintings, oils, lithographs, and woodcuts.

He was known for his expertise in watercolor painting, earning him the title 'Father of Indiana Watercolor' by the Indiana legislature.
