Biography

Thomas George (1918–2009) was an American painter born in New York City. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1940 with a degree in art history. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy, where he drew terrain maps used in coastal invasions. After the war, he studied art in Paris and Florence on the G.I.

Bill. His work is included in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
