Biography
Howard Behling Schleeter (1903–1976) was an American painter. Born in Buffalo, New York, he studied at the Albright Art School before venturing to New Mexico in 1929 to pursue his career as an artist. He married in 1930 and made New Mexico his permanent home. During the Great Depression, Schleeter occasionally found work digging ditches to make ends meet.
His work includes murals painted for the Federal Arts Project in New Mexico from 1936 to 1942.
